āœˆļø The skies are changing — and A4Climate is leading the way.

Funded under Horizon Europe, the A4Climate (Advancing Aviation for Climate) project is tackling the often-overlooked non-COā‚‚ climate impacts of aviation, such as contrails and nitrogen oxides (NOx). These effects significantly contribute to aviation’s overall climate footprint — and require urgent, science-based solutions.

šŸ”¬ A4Climate brings together 17 partners across Europe, including airlines, research institutions, and aviation stakeholders, to:

āœ… Quantify and model the full climate impact of aviation — beyond COā‚‚

āœ… Evaluate the feasibility of contrail avoidance in live operations

āœ… Test low-impact flight planning using real aircraft and satellite data

āœ… Develop MRV (Monitoring, Reporting & Verification) schemes for mitigation

āœ… Provide concrete input to EU and international policy on sustainable aviation

šŸš€ With 48 months of collaborative work ahead, A4Climate aims to transform cutting-edge science into actionable tools — for climate-responsible flight operations, clear regulation, and sustainable policy alignment.

This is about more than cleaner engines — it’s about smarter skies.
